Hey! We're The Material -- a female-fronted independent rock band from Los Angeles, CA. Our band released our first CD 5 years ago and has been touring ever since. We recently took a break to write a new album and now we need your help to make this record come to life!

What We Need & What You Get

This "30 in 30" campaign is a huge undertaking, but its time to take this band to the next level. Over the course of the next 30 days, we are asking our fans and music supporters everywhere to help invest in the future of our band, The Material, by helping to raise $30,000.

The funds raised in this campaign will go towards the recording, mastering and pressing of the new full-length album, a 4 month marketing campaign with a reputable company, a full nationwide tour, and all extra expenses that go into making a successful album (photo shoots, music videos, merch, travel expenses).

In order to work together on this, we have created a bunch of really cool "perks" as incentives to those generous enough to help invest in our future. Not only will you get the new album that you are helping create, but you also have 12 levels of perks to chose from with prizes like: exclusive tee shirts, hand written lyrics, a custom painting, a personal Skype acoustic show, etc. We want you to feel good about giving, and we want you to get something out of it too!

Help Us Make An Impact

It's tough to be an independent band, but we never could have gotten this far without our fans and friends. We have received so many awesome letters and emails from fans whom we have never even met, expressing gratitude for our music that has helped them through a hard time. We strive to be a positive-message band, and we want to make an impact on this world through our music. We'd love for you to be a part of it with us.

Other Ways You Can Help

We understand that not everyone has the ability to help monetarily, but that doesn't mean you can't help share this campaign with friends! Please help spread the word, and know that just the time you have take to read about our fundraiser is appreciated more than you can imagine.

Interview with Colleen D'Agostino Moreaux

FINALLY! It's my first interview with Colleen D'Agostino Moreaux. She's a nice person, and i love her answers, really inspire! I believe you guys will love it too. So check it out. Enjoy!

Me : When is your birthday?
Colleen : My birthday is March 29th :)

Me : Can you tell me a few stories about your life?
Colleen : Sure!  Well I met Jon (our guitarist) at the end of our senior year in high school.  I was chosen to sing at our high school graduation and I had seen his band play, so I figured he might know someone that could help me write a song for the performance.  We started writing music together and fell in love...and have been together ever since!  :)

Me : What's your favorite activity?
Colleen : Well touring with my band and traveling is my favorite thing ever, but when I am not singing, I love to paint (you can check out some of my artwork at www.colleendagostino.com) and watch movies with Jon or have a BBQ with my family and friends.

Me : What's your biggest dream and what/who is your inspiration to make your dream comes true?
Colleen : My dream is just to make a living with my music and get the opportunity to tour accross the world while playing shows with my band.  Hopefully we will get to play a show in Indonesia someday!  Some of my favorite bands/artists are Jimmy Eat World, Thrice, Circa Survive, Ellie Goulding, and Bat For Lashes so I look to them for inspiration.

Me : What's your favorite songs from The Material and With Beating Hearts?
Colleen : My favorite song to play with my band The Material is "No One Has To Know" which is a song off of our very first CD "Tomorrow".  It is filled with a ton of emotion.  My favorite song for my solo project With Beating Hearts is "Fall Fast (Blake Harnage Remix)" which has a moody and futuristic yet 80's vibe to it.  (You can get it for free here: http://noisetrade.com/withbeatinghearts )

Me : What's your favorite part about being a lead singer of bands? Do you have some unforgettable moments with your bands?
Colleen : My favorite part of being in a band is being able to create something out of nothing.  Taking an idea and hearing it come to life in a song that can make a difference in someone's life and help them get through a tough time.  I have received some really cool cards from fans that have been touched by my lyrics and it feels nice to know that you art can make a difference in someone else's life.  I also love that touring allows me to meet so many new people and travel to so many places I probably would never get to visit if I was not in a band.

Me : From all of your art works and hand made apparels that you've made, which one is your favorite?

Colleen : My favorite art piece to this day is the first painting I ever made.  I didn't really have a vision for it, it was just a creative release that was really organic and I think it shows.  You can see a photo of me creating it at this link http://www.colleendagostino.com/gallery/art-apparel/ entitled "Drips".

"I am Colleen D’Agostino, a 26 year old artist exploring the world of Color and Sound.  I grew up in the suburbs of LA but moved to San Diego when I turned 18 to study music and explore a new city.  I am constantly moving, traveling, and collecting inspiration from the many places and people that I meet along the way.

About The Material – A Biography

Hailing from Southern California, The Material has established themselves as one of the West Coast’s most dedicated up-and-comers. With their recent full length, What We Are (produced by Brian Grider), having been released in January of 2011, the group has begun building a strong fan base nationwide.
Before the release of What We Are, The Material joined up with Every Avenue, There For Tomorrow, Sing It Loud, and The Secret Handshake for the 2010 Motel 6 “Rock Yourself To Sleep Tour.” Since the start of the year, the band has toured non-stop, playing with the likes of Ivoryline on the “As Tall As Texas” tour, headlining the PictureHealing Winter Tour, and even stampeding through Austin with a week full of showcases at this past spring’s South By Southwest festival. As the year continues they’ll be joining up with the likes of New Years Day and Goodnight Sunrise for a summer tour throughout the Midwest and West Coast while making stops on The Vans Warped Tour and Milwaukee’s Summerfest as one of this year’s “Emerging Artists.”
As they continue to make in-roads, it is obvious that they have made an impact as press spots in MF Magazine have claimed that “The Material is more than up-an-coming…they’re smashing” (March 2011) and feature articles about the group have appeared in Beatweek Magazine (May 2011), Black Velvet Magazine (April 2011), and Substream Music Press (March 2011). In addition, original compositions by the band have made an imprint on TV shows like MTV Australia’s Freshwater Blue, MTV’s The Hills, and WB’s Sorority Forever. The result has been impressive as the band’s fans have voted The Material to perform live on MTV’s Dew Circuit Breakout out of a field of 4,000 other bands. Additionally, their fans have purchased over 300,000 downloads to date of their songs “Moving To Seattle” and “Stay Here Forever” on the video game ROCK BAND.
While it has been great for the band to receive the support they have worked hard for, the members continue to stick to their roots as a positive message band, encouraging their fans and others to continue reaching for their dreams just as they have. They represent themselves as good role models to their fans by working with multiple causes while on and off the road, to make the greatest positive impact they can, both musically and as individuals.

Bio of The Material from Wikipedia

The Material is a rock music quintet from San Diego, California. Colleen D'Agostino (vocals) moved to San Diego to pursue a music degree at San Diego State University. In her third year, she began playing with Jon Moreaux (guitar) and Noah Vowles (drums). The threesome added bassist Kevin Falk, formerly of Every Time I Die and Between the Buried and Me, and started writing songs for their first demo. Kevin was replaced by Brian Miller (bass), and Roi Elam (guitar) joined shortly after. With the permanent line up, The Material went into the studio to record their 6-song debut EP "Tomorrow", which was co-produced by Brian Grider and was released on September 1, 2007. They placed in the top 3 of the Dew Circuit Breakout of 2007, losing to Seattle band, The Myriad.
The Material has been featured on MTV and MTV2 and their song "Moving to Seattle" is also available to download for the video game, Rock Band. They have toured the entire United States and in September 2009, headlined the coast-to-coast Everlasting Sound Tour with the bands Blameshift & And Then There Was You.
The Material released 3 brand-new songs ("Unforgivable," "Before This Ship Goes Down," and "Give It All Back") on June 16, 2009. Their 'To Weather The Storm' EP is available for download on iTunes and Amazon.
Noah Vowles played his last show with The Material in February. As of March 16, 2010 the new drummer for the band is Kevin Pintado. Jordan Meckley replaced bassist Dustin Sherron as of August 2010. The Material went into the studio to begin recording for their first full-length album titled "What We Are" in May 2010.
In Summer 2010, the band performed on the Motel 6 Rock Yourself To Sleep Tour alongside artists There For Tomorrow, Every Avenue, Sing It Loud, and The Secret Handshake, as well as on the 2010 Vans Warped Tour.
The Material's song "What Happens Next" is the title track for MTV Australia's reality-drama series Freshwater Blue.
In 2011, a side project titled 'With Beating Hearts' was made, with a five track EP released in October.
